About me
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, and I always knew I wanted to become a journalist. Whenever I had the chance, I chose something related to media. For my final ninth-grade project, I wrote an article for Helsingin Sanomat, and in 1998, a half-broadsheet article of mine on how young people spend their summer was published.
I went on to study communication and social sciences at the University of Helsinki, where I developed a strong interest in sociology and semiotics. I also studied sociology at Stockholm University. I graduated in 2007, and by that time I was already working as a summer journalist and doing freelance shifts at the newspaper Ilta-Sanomat.
After graduation, I was accepted into the Sanoma Journalist School, which had reopened its core program after decades. I started there shortly after completing my Master’s degree.
I enjoy moving across boundaries, combining disciplines, fields, and perspectives. I look for connections and like to bring different threads together. As a freelancer, I see both an opportunity and a responsibility to maintain a broader perspective. I choose to spend my time on meaningful projects and work that makes sense and contributes something worthwhile.
